The Palomino is an alert, curious horse who despite being fiery, works well with people. There are three types of Palominos; the stock type, Quarter Horses; the Golden American Saddle bred; and the pleasure types. Golden in color with a white or light colored mane and tail. It stands approximately 14 - 16 hands high.
Characteristics of the Palomino horse can vary according to breeding. The skin is usually gray, black, brown or motley with underlying pink skin or spots, only visible on the face or legs. The eyes are usually black, hazel, or brown. The mane and tail are usually white.

These differences are the result of affect on these horses by other unrelated genes. Some of the horses have little lighter brown or amber eyes. The summer coat of this horse is generally of a little darker shade than its winter coat.
